From September 9, 2015, Queen Elizabeth II will have ruled for more than 63 years and 216 days, surpassing the record set by her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria.

Princess Elizabeth became Queen Elizabeth II when she was 25 upon the death of her father King George VI, who died in the early hours of February 6, 1952.

Her coronation as monarch took place at Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953.
