Video: Homes evacuated following explosions in Ahoghill

An Ahoghill councillor has condemned two bomb attacks in the village overnight.

Stewart McDonald said it was lucky no was seriously injured after explosions at two properties in the Brookfield Gardens area at around 2am.

“These were large explosions with damage caused to two properties,” Cllr. McDonald said.

Councillor McDonald also hit out over the disruption caused to local residents who were evacuated in the wake of the attacks.

Local residents were moved from their homes to the village’s community centre, or taken to relatives’ homes.

It is understood residents who were evacuated will be unable to return to their homes until later this afternoon.
