VIDEO: Little Chuck’s adventure comes to an end after six long weeks

Owner Rebecca McQuilkin from Belfast was reunited with her one-year-old pooch on Wednesday evening, after he was captured in a fox trap in the garden of Carol and John Millican at Laurel Grove, just off the Screen Road in Coleraine.

Owner Rebecca and her family had stopped off at the Riverside Regional Centre on route to their caravan in Portrush for an Easter break, when the little one-year-old terrier escaped.

And after weeks of searches along the River Bann, at Coleraine Inst’s playing fields, in Somerset Forest the little man’s tail was wagging when he was placed into the arms of his owner after his long adventure.

Jolene, a volunteer with Causeway Coast Dog Rescue, who co-ordinated the search told The Times: “We almost had Chuck on a number of occasions.

“We were were out searching in all weathers, at 3am and 4am, we were determined that this little man was going to be found.

“We’d just like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped. Chuck got a check over with our vet, and to be honest he is in good health, despite all that he has been through. When we were in the vets with him, I put his owner Rebecca on loud speaker on my phone and his little tail was wagging - he recognised her voice, it brought tears to our eyes, he’s been through so much.”
