Lucas is planning to swim 16 miles non-stop across Lough Neagh from Kinnego Marina, Lurgan to Ballyronan Marina to raise money for Cancer Focus.

The swim is expected to take Lucas around 8-9 hours and he will be accompanied along the way by boats but the swim will be done completely by Lucas on a non stop basis.

Lucas told the MAIL that he decided he wanted to undertake a bigger challenge this year after he and his friends undertook a 6 mile swim last year. He said: “I wanted a bigger challenge this time and in doing so, help raise money for a local cancer charity. This is why I have chosen to support Cancer Focus Northern Ireland and they help people in Mid Ulster who have cancer.” If you would like to support Lucas and Cancer Focus you can donate via www.justgiving.com/Lucas-Kowalczy
