Video: Moyraverty Court murder victim was hidden in wheelie bin

They also confirmed an attempt had been made to conceal his body in a wheelie bin.

Speaking at a press conference the detective leading the investigation pointed out Mr Creaney was vulnerable and frail, with significant mobility issues.

He had just celebrated his 40th birthday on June 28.

His body was discovered around 2pm yesterday (Saturday, July 5) after police were called to the address at 140 Moyraverty Court with a report of suspicious activity.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Campbell of the PSNI Serious Crime Branch said officers found the body of a male deceased .

Two other people, a 23 year old woman and 27-year-old man, at the address were arrested and initially taken to Lurgan but have since been moved to the Serious Crime Suite in Antrim .

The detective went on; “A post mortem examination is ongoing in relation to Owen’s remains at the minute, at this stage I can say he has been the victim of a very serious and sustained assault that has resulted in his death.”

He went on to say at this early stage of the investigation it appears the victim survived for a period of time after the assault but died without receiving medical attention.

He appealed for anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity around the house between Wednesday, July 2, and Saturday, July 5, to contact detectives at Lurgan on the non-emergency 101 number.

He also asked anyone who saw Owen or was in contact with him between those dates to contact them.

He went on: “I would hope the community would be rightly disgusted by that, the fact he was allowed to remain without any medical attention and even after his death there was no respect shown to his body with the attempt to conceal it so would ask anyone with information about this brutal murder to contact detectives by using the 101 number.”
