VIDEO: Rider crashes and skids along road at Cookstown 100

A spectator at the weekend's Cookstown 100 races has captured footage of a crash involving newcomer Malachi Mitchell Thomas, who went on to take second in the race on Saturday.

Posting on his Facebook page, Newry man Steven Park said: “Cookstown 100 600 race. Footage of Malachi Mitchell Thomas crash. Thankfully he skidded straight down the middle of the Rd.

“Nothing worse than the sound of a bike coming down the road on its side.”

A report on the Cookstown 100 webpage commended the young Cookstown/Burrows team rider for his efforts on the day.

It said: “Shrugging off the effects of an earlier spill, circuit newcomer Malachi Mitchell Thomas took second spot, added with a win in the Supertwins and a third in the first open race.”
