Video: Sinn Fein take top post on Magherafelt Council

Magherafelt’s new first citizen is Sinn Fein Councillor Kate McEldowney.

She was elected as chairperson of Magherafelt District Council at tonight’s annual meeting and replaces party colleague Councillor Catherine Elattar.

She will hold the top post until the new Mid-Ulster super council comes into operation next April.
