VIDEO: St Killian’s pupils learn stark lesson in road safety

Pupils at St Killian’s College, Carnlough, were given a stark reminder of the carnage faced by firefighters at the scene of a road traffic collision during a re-enactment in the school grounds recently.
To mark the final day of Road Safety Week, St Killian's College, Carnlough and Translink in partnership with the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service conducted a re-enactment of a collision scene involving a school bus to remind school pupils of the very serious potential consequences of forgetting to wear their seat belts while travelling. The mock scenario staged by Translink, in partnership witht the Northern Irelan Fire and Rescue Service, involving a school bus, was staged to remind pupils of the very seriuos potential consequences of forgetting to wear their seatbelts while travelling.

The ‘incident’ was also a valuable training exercise for the emergency services, with 30 pupils from the school acting as ‘casualties’ to be rescued.
