Experts said a severe geomagnetic storm hit earth on Tuesday, allowing folks as far south as Oxford England to harness its unique beauty on camera for the first time.

Speaking about the beautiful clip, which also features its creator paddle-boarding on the lough, Tam said on his Vimeo page: “I had always wanted to get shots of an Aurora over Lough Neagh but knew it would require one of extraordinary strength.

“Luckily this Aurora was strong enough and also luckily there was clear skies.

“Unfortunately mist obscured a lot of the Aurora but it still managed to sneak through!

“I also took the opportunity to hop on my Starboard Standup Paddleboard and experience paddling under the Aurora!”
