Mickey Harte responded to questions on the CCCC’s eight-week suspension of Tiernan McCann following Tyrone’s All Ireland quarter-final win over Monaghan.

Harte refused to be drawn on the suspension but it’s clear he was far from impressed with the decision to suspend his wing half forward.

When asked if he was surprised about the decision, Harte said: “I wouldn’t use the word surprised in this case, I would use a different word that is not as pleasant.”

McCann has come in for criticism having been accused of diving, leading to a red card for Darren Hughes towards the end of Tyrone’s victory on Saturday.

News broke on Tuesday night that the CCCC [Central Competition Controls Committee] planned to suspend McCann - something Tyrone will appeal.

The decision has been blasted across social media with fans of the game calling for Tyrone to be treated fairly.
