On their Facebook page, the PSNI said: “ Over the last week there have been a number of burglaries and attempted burglaries in the District and we do not want to see anyone fall prey to this crime.

“We carry out anti- burglary patrols on a daily basis but we can’t be everywhere all of the time. When we carry out investigations into burglary we often find that people may have noticed suspicious activity or vehicles prior to the incident but it didn’t register as important enough to contact us about.

“Believe me, we want to hear about anything that appears irregular or out of place in your neighbourhood. We are grateful for all the calls we receive about suspicious vehicles and activity.

“Please be vigilant and please phone us straight away if you notice anything that doesn’t feel right to you. We would much rather check out a report that ends up being innocuous than miss the opportunity to catch a burglar or prevent a crime.

“You can phone us on 101 or 999 in an emergency.”
