The programme of events was launched at Randal’s, Cushendun, and was attended by representatives from the North East Rural Development Programme, North Antrim Community Network, Moyle District Council and Cushendun District Development Association.

Speaking at the event, Ballymena Councillor Billy Henry, NER LAG Vice-Chair said: “The NER Rural Development Programme has developed real momentum over the last four years.

“We are now at a stage where our £13.1 million budget is now fully committed to rural projects.

“NER has prioritised Village Renewal and community support in our overall programme having allocated nearly 30% of our project budget to these sectors.

“ A core principle of our approach is that the communities which most closely experience problems or which identify opportunities for development should be involved in helping to deliver the programmes which we are funding.

“Our Week of Communities will help showcase some of the projects we have funded as well as the community representatives who have driven them forward.”

“WEach day will have a particular theme such as festivals and fundraising, environment, heritage, regeneration and facilities.”
