Violent crime down say PSNI

Last crime figures for April to September show there were a total of 458 violent crimes, compared to 543 in the same period last year.

Crimes which fall under the violent crime category include offences against the person, sexual offences and robberies.

The number of offences against the person fell from 501 last year to 413 this year, while there were 33 sexual offences between April to September - one less than last year. However, the number of robberies increased from eight to 12.

Meanwhile, the total number of crimes occurring in the borough has dropped by just over eight per cent.There were 1,786 incidents between April and September compared to 1,959 last year.
