‘Virtual field trip’ of Antrim and Newtownabbey’s Ulster Scots links

Visitors will be able to go on a “field trip” of Antrim and Newtownabbey courtesy of the Ulster Scots Agency.

Filming of local landmarks is due to take place at locations around the borough by Virtual Visit Tours.

The “virtual reality field trip” is aimed at “immersing viewers in the heritage, culture and history of places in Ulster with an Ulster Scots connection”.

Filming will be taking place at Mossley Mill, Sentry Hill in Newtownabbey and Pogues Entry in Antrim.

As well as general views of each site, there will specific focus on the chimney and mill pond at Mossley Mill, four Session books of Carnmoney Presbyterian Church, at Sentry Hill and memorial garden at Pogues Entry.

The final product will be available for use by the council on its digital platforms and for tourism promotion by the Ulster Scots Agency.
