Visitors evening at Drumbeg W.I.

Vice President Olive Palmer welcomed everyone including area representative Ann McCurdy and guests from other institutes.

The speaker was Roma Tomelty who explained that the Tomelty family had been involved in theatre in Belfast from 1896. Her father was the well known actor and playwright Joseph Tomelty of the Radio Ulster programme ‘The McCooey’s’.

The audience shared many memories of that long running series and other works written by Tomelty.

Members were delighted to hear that Barbara Huss was the winner of the Mary Boyd Competition entitled ‘Your interpretation of a Woolly Hat.

The monthly competition was won by Rosemary Reid with Maureen Lindsay and Anne McAdam taking second and third places.
