Visitors flock to caravan park

The Jordanstown caravan park is expected to post a profit for the second year in a row, council officers have said.

At May’s Leisure Committee meeting councillors were told the site was extremely popular and feedback from users was “very positive”.

For the past financial year visitor numbers were up by over 400, almost half the same period the previous year.

Originally council officers projected an income of £14,000 a year, however, the site has received an income of over £32,000.

During the past year the site attracted people from many more countries than the previous reporting period while the majority of visitors came from the
UK.

YOUNG people from Larne are being urged to attend an upcoming meeting to discuss the establishment of a new youth group in the town.

Tullygarley Residents’ Association has received a grant of almost £10,000 to help set up the group, which will be based at the community hall in the newly regenerated Market Yard.

The group will be aimed at young people between the ages of six and 16.

Rusty Johnston, chairman of the Association, said the grant would be used to purchase equipment for the hall.

Anyone who is interested is asked to attend the meeting at Unit 24, LEDCOM, Bank Road at 7pm on May 29.
