Helm Housing says it was delighted to work with local community representatives in an organised clean-up at the location.

The environmental effort was supported by Keep NI Beautiful, which provided gloves, litter pickers and bin bags and Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, which also donated bags and litter pickers for the day as well as providing a special bin collection.

“It is great to see so many volunteers and local residents come out to support us today to help us keep the area looking its best.”

Helm’s role through its community co-ordinators is to support local communities and residents to identify areas where they can work together with key organisations and tenants to create thriving communities.

The clean-up at Cadiz and the immediate surrounding area was also supported by representatives from Carrickfergus PUP, Davys Street Committee, Carrickfergus Community Forum and residents.

Sheila Taylor, Helm neighbourhood manager, added: “We at Helm are delighted to be able to provide this service to the local Carrickfergus community in partnership with community representatives.

“Projects like this strengthen our ties with the community and we are delighted to be involved.

“It is always rewarding when the people living in the community volunteer to help clean up their own areas and it is encouraging that so many of those taking part would wish to help again in future events in the areas.”

A registered housing association and charity, Helm is dedicated to the provision of affordable housing and associated support services.
