Volunteers needed for stroke project

stroke survivors who have aphasia, or communication difficulties.

Speech & Language Therapist Sharon Millar explains: “We rely on our volunteers to help us provide support to the thousands of stroke

survivors across Northern Ireland.

“The Stroke Association Communication Development Programme volunteer would spend time with and support members during weekly meetings which will take place at Flowerfield Arts Centre, 185 Coleraine Road, Portstewart every Wednesday from 1.30pm-3.30pm.

“Two volunteers will be needed to assist the Speech and Language Therapist with a range of activities.

“Other aspects of the role includes helping members undertake activities and social events and spending time listening to and supporting members.

“A full role description is available on request. Training and support will be provided by the Stroke Association as well as expenses. Please

note that an Access NI check at enhanced level will also be required for this role.”

Anyone over the age of 16, whatever their race or religion can volunteer. Whatever your reason for volunteering, the Stroke Association would greatly welcome your support.
