Volunteers required for Christian charity shops in Harryville & Ballykeel

SINCE it opened in 2008, the Global Mission Centre in Paradise Avenue, in Harryville, has provided a much-needed base for some wonderful Christian Ministries to operate from.

Funding to support these different Ministries comes largely from donations but the organisations have now two charity shops in operation in the town, to try and add necessary income to help advance the progress of the each of their Ministries.

Explaining a little more about these shops, a spokesperson for the Global Missions Centre said: “We've have had a charity shop in the centre, at Paradise Avenue, on the first floor, which people have been kindly supporting for a year and a half. We sell clothes, shoes, bric-a-brac, cards, bits and pieces of furniture plus lots of other things.”

“The second Charity shop, situated beside the Post Office in Ballykeel One, which opened just before Christmas, has much the same goods on offer as the other shop, although here there is more of a focus on the second-hand furniture side of things, which we would like try to sell more of”, added the spokesperson.

The two shops also take in good clothes to sell or they can take in old clothes to recycle.

The Ministries feel that it’s important to point out and stress that 100% all money raised by these shops or elsewhere, goes directly back into the Ministries and is given to support the three Ministries found at the Global Missions Centre.

Namely: • Familycare – In - Cancer, who reach out to families going through the trauma of cancer in Northern Ireland.

• Familylife Ministries, who are committed to supporting families through all kinds of crisis.

• Reaching and Teaching Ministries, who reach out to those in need in the Philippines and India plus many other needy places in our world.

Both shops require volunteers to staff them and if you feel that you have free time to offer then the team would like to hear from you.

Potential volunteers at either shop will not need experience as training will be given on the job but this work does require a person to be trustworthy and honest.

The hours can be adjusted to suit individual needs but would be advantageous if a volunteer could help from 10am -1.00pm or from 1-4pm which is the opening hours for both shops.
