Volunteers sought for Lisburn In Focus

Lisburn in Focus, a Big Lottery funded project, led by The Royal National Institute for the Blind in Northern Ireland, has recently set up a Befriending Scheme for blind and partially sighted people living within the Lisburn area.

They are seeking new volunteers who can make a commitment to meeting with a resident once a fortnight, for around two hours at a time.

Lisburn in Focus Volunteer Manager, Richard Craig, said: “People with sight loss suffer an increased risk of isolation and depression yet many are not in touch with available support.

“The aim of the Befriending Scheme is to help individuals get connected with the local community and encourage them to use and participate in other services.”
