Volunteers tidy care centre

WATER service volunteers tidied the garden of a Londonderry care centre for children and adults with learning disabilities as part of Northern Ireland Water’s 2012 ‘Cares Challenge’ recently.

Volunteers from across NI Water created a space at the Praxis service in Rosemount so users could learn and develop new skills in horticulture, and grow their own vegetables and flowers.

The group will also use the area to relax. At present they have no outside area to enjoy so this work made a huge difference to the project and the service users.

The Challenge, set up in partnership with Business in the Community’s NI Cares Programme, identifies organisations within the local community who need a helping hand with physical tasks such as gardening and painting.
