The competition, running through Johnston Press papers and supported by firmus energy, has highlighted people from across Northern Ireland who are carrying out deeds above and beyond what would be expected of them; the ‘shining stars’ of our communities.

Angeline Sloan of firmus energy, commented: “We are just delighted that so many people have nominated their friends, family and neighbours in this competition.

“It is touching to see such a great deal of warm-heartedness across Northern Ireland.

“We have more than 66,000 customers across the province and know that so many of them give up their time and energy to benefit others and that is why supporting a competition such as this is important to us. The difficult decision of who should win the title of ‘Person to be Proud Of’ is now over to you, the readers, and I would encourage you to support those nominated and vote in the competition!”
