Vote student Thomasina's video No1

A Coleraine student has made it through to the final of Trocaire's '1 in 6' Video Contest and needs public support in the next week to be in with a chance of winning the competition.

The video contest is part of Trocaire’s Lenten campaign about the one billion people in the world who are living in hunger - that’s one in six of us.

The ‘1 in 6 Video Contest’ challenged people to express what this meant to them in a 90 second video.

Thomasina McCallion, a student at the University of Ulster at Coleraine, was shortlisted by the panel of judges for her entry ‘1in6’.

Lawrence McBride, Trocaire’s regional development officer for the north-west, said, “It’s fantastic that a Derry student has been short-listed in the final five videos in this competition.

“The message in the videos mirrored the theme of our Lenten campaign which ended on Easter Sunday and it would be great if Thomasina’s entry was the overall winner.

“I would urge everyone to visit the website and vote for her entry. I would also take this opportunity to remind people to leave their Trocaire boxes back to their local parish as soon as possible.”

The final five videos are now open to public vote at www.trocaire.org/1in6 and the winning video will be the entry that receives the most votes. The contest prize is an opportunity to travel overseas with the aid agency to film their work.
