Wakehurst phase one is completed
He said: “ I work for a large number of local football teams and it was very clear a number of years back that we had to invest in these football pitches or we would lose the facility all together .I met with representatives of the local clubs to ascertain the problems and then started the ball rolling with meetings with Council Officials to see what work we could complete and afford .Im glad that the DUP were able to put forward plans, that the Council approved ,that committed approx £300,000 for the redevelopment of the 4 pitches .
“Work has now been completed on two of the pitches and they have been marked out and played on . We look forward to the second phase of the refurbishment of the other two pitches and also advancement of the redevelopment of the changing facilities.”

Hide AdCllr Martin Clarke said “This work will ensure that these pitches are now of the highest standard for the level of football that is played here.”
Local resident Trevor Robinson added: “I have grandchildren who play on these pitches and it is great to see Ballymena Borough Council investing in sport both in the Showgrounds and out in the wider Borough.”
