When spoken to by police Toner said he had been drunk and had no recollection of what happened.

Mrs Bronagh McPartland, representing Toner, said he was with a friend at the store and they both had got carry outs.

She added that the defendant had the money to pay on him but got frustrated at waiting in the queue and walked past the check out.

District Judge, Mr Alan White, said it was 26 years since Toner was last before the court for theft so he could deal with the matter by way of a fine.
