Walkers thanked

MORE than three hundred walkers stepped out in their hiking boots to help end child cruelty by tackling this year’s NSPCC 20 mile walking challenge, the HACK (Hike Against Cruelty to Kids) in the magnificent Mournes.

Building on the previous success of this event, the 2011 HACK achieved record walker numbers, who were treated to a stunning hike through one of Northern Ireland’s most popular areas of natural beauty.

Karen Walker, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said: “We had a fantastic turnout at this year’s HACK. I would like to thank everyone who took part and made this event such a success. It’s a real achievement for everyone who completed the challenging 20 mile route.

“Although the weather in the run-up to the HACK had made the route quite difficult at points, a great day out was had by all and the sense of achievement was huge.

“On behalf of the NSPCC I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication in taking part and helping to raise much needed funds for the charity to help end child cruelty. We hope to raise £42,000 from this year’s HACK, which will make a huge difference for vulnerable local children.”
