Walking tour launched

A NEW walking tour, Noose or Necklace, was launched in Londonderry on Thursday of last week.

The dramatised tour of the city’s ancient walls, which is free, it is being staged to facilitate the local community in finding out more about the last 400 years of the historic city.

Noose or Necklace is free of charge, and involves pre-booked community, school and historical interest groups being guided around the city for an hour and a quarter, during which time they will ‘meet’ interesting characters along the way who will bring the city’s story to life, including Italian girls, American soldiers, Scottish brickiesand factory girls.

Noose or Necklace has 14 characters each with a story to tell.

Director and producer, Jonathan Burgess, of Blue Eagle Productions, said:“Noose or Necklace promises entertaining insights into the city’s culture and heritage. We meet the people who have lived and worked here over the past 400 years and find out from them what life was really like – the highs and lows. There are also a few laughs along the way and we are looking forward to entertaining as many groups as possible over the coming months.”

The tour is available for group bookings of 15 to 30 people, and the tour is complemented by an informative booklet and website.
