Wallace move step closer to new Astroturf hockey pitches

The new state of the art surfaces will replace the two existing all weather pitches.

Principal Mrs Deborah O'Hare said the school is being advised by well known UK Sports' Consultant - RMS to help accelerate the process.

"Planning permission was granted at the end of last year, our architects have been working on the plans for two pitches and floodlighting and initial investigatory ground works have been completed" she said.

"The advice of such a well known and successful consultancy company as RMS is a real bonus. RMS has worked in collaboration with organisations such as The Steve Redgrave Trust in the successful completion of numerous highly prestigious sporting facilities."

She continued, "We have already had hockey success at Wallace, in both girls and boys schools' competitions, with numerous young people representing this board area, Ulster and Ireland this year so it all points to very bright future for our teams.

"Our young people and coaches are dedicated and believe passionately in the capabilities of our teams. The community of this school, I am confident, will give a very strong message in their support of this proposed development on our school grounds."
