Wallace Old Girls celebrate 50th

WALLACE High School Old Girls will be celebrating 50 years in style with a special event later this month.

A performance of ‘Born to Prance’, the story of Anthea McWilliams’ singular, self-styled journey of dancing the length of Ireland will be performed at Wallace High School on Friday March 23 at 7.30pm.

Born to Prance is dance theatre, stitched up with humour, laced with legend and sprinkled with substance, all rolled into one.

Lisburn based artist and Wallace High School ‘old girl’, Anthea McWiliams, performs her unique tale in her one woman show, as she set out in 2008 to dance all the way from Malin Head in Co. Donegal to Mizen Head in Co. Cork - a total of some 500 kms over 10 weeks.

The show was first performed at the Island Arts Centre, Lisburn in November 2009 at two sell out performances, as well as various venues across the country.

• The Wallace Old Girls’ Association will also be hosting their Annual Coffee Party and Bring and Buy Sale tomorrow (Saturday March 3) in the school from 10.15am to 12.00pm. All money raised at this event is donated back to the school and ultimately benefits the children in both the Preparatory Department and the Grammar School. The cost, which includes coffee is £3 for adults and £1 for children.
