Walter cheques in at Samaritans ceremony

A long-standing volunteer from Lisburn was on hand again for the charity Action on Hearing Loss Northern Ireland, this time to collect a cheque on behalf of the charity at the Good Samaritans ceremony in St Anne’s Cathedral earlier this month.

Walter Carswell delivers talks on hearing loss to groups informing them about information and support services Action on Hearing Loss has to offer.

He also attends information stands at outreach events and provides hearing health training to staff in care homes.

He collected the cheque for £800 on behalf of Action on Hearing Loss, who was among the 200 charities that benefited from the Black Santa Christmas sit-out which raised over £186,000 in total.

Anya Liotti, Fundraising Executive from Action on Hearing Loss says, “We are very grateful to receive this money and it will be used to support our information service which offers help and support to so many, including deaf and hard of hearing people, families and loved ones and health care professionals.

“We are so grateful to Walter for all the selfless work he does for Action on Hearing Loss, and we could we think of no better man to collect the cheque on our behalf.”

Action on Hearing Loss is the charity working for a world where deafness, hearing loss and tinnitus doesn’t limit or label people, and where everyone values their hearing
