Waringstown Twelfth plans

THE events leading up to this year's County Down Twelfth demonstration in Waringstown have been announced.

The build up starts with the Mini Twelfth in Moira on Thursday, June 24.

On Wednesday, June 30 the new arch in Waringstown will be officially opened.

Waringstown LOL No83 will also be hosting a barbecue and treasure hunt on Monday, July 5 and on Wednesday, July 7 there will be an exhibition in Waringstown Orange Hall.

Dollingstown LOL No62 are hosting a series of events in the orange hall in the build up to the County Down Twelfth demonstration.

To start with they’ll be holding a musical workshop on Wednesday, July 7. On Thursday, July 8 they will be holding an Ulster Scots talking and cookery demo and on Friday, July 9 there will be a Lambeg showcase.

On Saturday, July 10, Dollingstown will host a festival night and barbecue and the old boys from Star of the North flute band will be putting on a concert. The night will see an exhibition of Lambeg drumming and Scottish dancing.

Elsewhere Clogher LOL No529 will be hosting a barbecue and musical evening on Saturday, July 10 and King’s Hill LOL No319 will host an Ulster Special Constabulary cultural evening and barbecue on Thursday, July 8.

On the Twelfth itself the parade will assemble at the field on the Dunkirk Road and the demonstration afterwards takes place at a field just off the Clare Road.

Eight districts will take part with 98 lodges and 35 bands. The main speaker will be Bro Drew Nelson, Grand Secretary of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland.
