Waringstown welcome signs fallen into ‘bad state of repair’

Councillor Colin McCusker said: “I had noticed recently that the signs had fallen into a very poor state of repair, and after talking to locals in the village they agreed with me that it would be a real shame if the village was to lose them.

“These signs have been a hallmark of Waringstown for as long as I can remember, and while I appreciate not all the villages in the borough have been given such signs, I think it would be a real shame if they were allowed to deteriorate to the point where they would have to be removed.”

He continued: “These signs mark the gateway to Waringstown, and are a very welcoming feature for visitors to the village. I have written to the council asking that they be refurbished as a matter of urgency, before they pass the point of no return and can no longer be repaired.

“As we approach the end of the borough of Craigavon, I believe it’s vital that we preserve some of the local heritage that has been built up over the years.”
