Warm Larne welcome for Kildare visitors

MEMBERS of Celbridge Historical Society, Co Kildare, were welcomed by Four Castles Orange Cultural Society on what has become their annual visit to the Larne borough.

The weekend itinerary began with a meal in Larne Masonic Centre, followed by a talk and question time on the Ulster-Scot connection in Clover.

Saturday morning included a visit to Larne Museum and Arts Centre before joining the Larne heritage trail on a walking tour of the town centre. A conducted tour of the Drumalis house and gardens concluded the afternoon.

In the evening, guests enjoyed an interesting lecture by Dr David Hume, followed by a question and answer sessioin.

Sunday saw various groups aattending morning worship in different local churches. The guests enjoyed lunch in Carrickfergus, then some visited the castle before leaving for their homeward journey.

The aims of these cross-border visits are to examine and participate in different cultures and allow for the expression of views on various topics.
