Warm welcome for new DUP councillor
Mayor Billy Ashe has welcomed Mid and East Antrim’s newest councillor to her first meeting.
Angela Smyth, who has replaced MLA Gordon Lyons as DUP councillor for the Coast Road, was introduced at the November monthly meeting of the local authority in Ballymena.
Thanking the Mayor, chief executive Anne Donaghy, council staff and members across the chamber for their warm welcome, Mrs Smyth said: “It is a great honour to represent the Coast Road area and Mid and East Antrim. I look forward to working with everyone and pledge to serve the people of the Coast Road area to the best of my ability.”
Cllr Smyth also paid tribute to her predecessor, Gordon Lyons, and wished him well in his new Assembly role.
