Was a quiet but popular man

Bob, as he was affectionately known, was the dearly loved husband of Lorraine and loving and devoted dad of Andrina and Anita.

Bob, who hailed from Newcastle, met and married Lorraine in the Parish Church here in Banbridge 49 years ago.

They set up home in Banbridge and Bob worked after his marriage in the Bleach Green in Castlewellan and then with Fane Valley Dairies on the Rathfriland Road.

He was a member of the Loyal Orange Institution.`

A very private man he was of a quiet and friendly disposition. He liked socialising and had many friends.

He was a member of Banbridge Angling Club and enjoyed wetting a line on both river and lake.

His main interest was centred around his home and family and it is there that his passing will be mostly felt.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine, daughters Mrs. Andrina Moore and Miss Anita Johnstone, son-in-law Stephen Moore, grandchildren Sam, Zoe, Ben and Lily, his mother Elizabeth and brother Charlie.

The funeral took place privately from his home on Monday 22nd December to Holy Trinity Parish Church for a service which was conducted in the home, church and graveside by the Ven. Archdeacon Roderic West who was assisted by the Rev. Rosie Diffin.

The hymns ‘The Lord’s My Shepherd’ and ‘Abide with Me’ were sung.

The interment took place afterwards in the New Cemetery. Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Iveagh House Private Nursing Home and Chest Heart and Stroke (Cheques made payable to William Bell and Co.)

William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
