Was on motorbike without a helmet in Dungannon

A Dungannon man will discover his sentence in September after he admitted driving without insurance for the third time.

Martynas Adomkis, 33, from Cherry Tree Court, was spotted by police on June 4th at Cunningham’s Lane. He was riding a motorbike and did not have a helmet on.

They pursued him towards his home and stopped him. Adomkis confirmed that he had no insurance and that he had no specific motorbike licence.

District Judge John Meehan noted that his guilty plea was his third for no insurance.

“His last was some time ago,” said Mr Jarlath Faloon, defending. “He has insurance now.

“His friend had bought a 125cc bike and brought it around for him to see it. He asked to have a spin and... was on his way back when he was detected.”

Mr Faloon told the court that his client had first been convicted for no insurance when he had arrived in Northern Ireland ten years previously, but stated that he was now married with two children and in full time employment.

Adjourning the case for sentencing on September 21st, Judge Meehan noted that on the last occasion the defendant had received a short disqualification and a fine which he had still not paid.
