Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council is supporting European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), which is taking place from November 21-29, 2015

The theme this year ‘3Rs and a Clean-Up.’

The 3Rs Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and the Clean Up relates to a dedicated day to Clean-Up Europe.

Through EWWR, the Council will be using social media to keep its residents informed with 3R tips.

Councillor Brian Hanvey, Chairman of the Council’s Environmental Services Committee, said: “It is great to see the continuing progress that our residents are making with regards to waste reduction.

“Our efficient waste collection service collects waste from over 56,000 properties in the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area.

There are many other efficient ways for every household to make a difference.

“No matter how big or small the item you recycle, where it be a tea bag or Plasma TV, it all makes a difference.”
