But to stay on the show, which will appear on the silver screen every Wednesday night at 10.30pm until its April 15 final, he needs your support.

Ed recorded his first ever album ‘If Not For You’ in 2001 and one of its tracks - ‘Late Night Radio’ - quickly shot up the Australian charts and won extensive airplay throughout Europe.

His second album, ‘Money In The Chair’, followed a little later and established Ed as a country singer to watch.

But not one to rest on his laurels, he has taken his talent to tele with the aim of spreading his wings just a little bit further.

“I like singing Irish country and American country,” he said.

Born into a part of the province where country music is considered a way of life, he said he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his legendary neighbours Philomena Begley, Brian Coll and Gene Stewart.

“I will be singing to save my bacon,” he said.

“The voting lines are open now, 24-7 til the end of the competition.”
