Hundreds of people gathered in Dungannon on Friday afternoon to say goodbye to showband star Ivan Vaughan.

Ivan, who was tragically killed in a flood on his way home to Caledon after playing a gig in Glaslough, county Monaghan last Sunday, has been described as “one of life’s true gentlemen” by a friend.

He leaves behind his wife Tish, and children Victoria, Helen and Karen.

The dear grandfather, much loved brother of Eileen, John, William and Anne and a dear uncle was remebered at his funeral service at St Anne’s Church in Dungannon at 2.30pm on Friday.

The showband singer performed under the stage name Simon Scott with The Plattermen in the 60s and 70s, but worked more recently as a one man band.
