Dancing queens Edwina Miliken (nee Wright) and Marlene Oliver (nee Dunlop) are synonymous with Irish dancing in the Ballymoney area and they performed a routine called the Skaters Waltz on a TV show called ‘Teatime with Tommy’ in the late 1960s.

Edwina said: “The dance was choreographed by our old dance teacher Jean Tennant and we danced it a few times on Teatime with Tommy. It’s an old style dance, more like a step dance as you move your arms in it. We danced it for years at concerts. Then we danced it at the 30th anniversary of Ballymoney Dancing Festival and just recently we taught it to the dancers at the Jiggity classes in the town which was part keep fit and part dance and was a terrific event as it raised money for charity. We are doing OK for OAPs,” joked Edwina.
