‘Waters of the Bush’ sculpture unveiled

A NEW sculpture has been unveiled in Bushmills entitled ‘The Waters of the River Bush’.

A special ceremony was held on May 9 at Hamill Terrace.

Moyle Council Chairperson, Cllr Sandra Hunter, told those present: “This piece of sculpture was designed and built by by Holger Christian Lönze. It measures 13ft high and is fabricated from sheet bronze and has been named “The Waters of the River Bush”. This art project was funded 75% by RDP and 25% by Moyle District Council.

“The commission is the final phase of Public Realm Funding received from the Rural Development Programme and the Department of Social Development to develop this area at Hamill Terrace.

“I feel this enhances the character of Hamill Terrace and this public fountain celebrates this rich natural and cultural heritage of the River Bush and the town of Bushmills,” said Cllr Hunter.

Also in Bushmills a new play park has been officially opened. It was 100 per cent funded by Moyle Council and the play equipment supplied by Crawford Contracts, Ballymena.
