Waterside Theatre unveils diverse new programme

THE recently refurbished Waterside Theatre new January to April 2010 programme is now available.

A wide range of excellent shows from award winning drama, musicals, dance and children’s shows are on offer to entice audiences into the Waterside theatre, with state of the art facilities over the Winter/Spring months.

With 37 performances it certainly is a packed programme with the new season opening with FROM BOTH HIPS, a black comic thriller by George Devine Award Winner, Mark O’Rowe, one of Ireland’s leading contemporary playwrights.

There is an abundance of excellent drama with the CITY OF DERRY DRAMA FESTIVAL, which runs for its fourth year at the Waterside Theatre for nine consecutive nights. Brand new theatre company Nighthawk brings their powerful production, THE DAY THEY SHOT JOHN LENNON and also Irene Melaugh brings her comedy, set in the 1950’s, THE AUL FELLA.

Ulidian Youth Drama Group presents A NIGHT OF MUSIC, DANCE, SONG & COMEDY and there is also an autobiographical play WHO AM I? by Vin McCullagh. The hit show THE KNICKER LADY will leave audiences spellbound and dying for more and there will be even more comedy with a new production by Martin O’Brien, TWO LITTLE BOYS.

International hypnotist and illusionist ADRIAN KNIGHT brings his exhilarating show to the Waterside Theatre for a night of mind-boggling entertainment. Starlight Stage Productions also presents their sensational show, PUPPY LOVE – The Donny Osmond Story, featuring all the hits!

Children’s shows at the Waterside Theatre have never been better with Borris and Ricardo THE LION TAMERS TAIL, a surreal comic adventure into the wilds of the imagination. Also there will be an annual showcase for all the family from drama group Local Loopers, OUR TIME IS SHOW TIME that will be in the theatre for two nights.

There is a fantastic mix of dance coming to the theatre, with internationally acclaimed Echo Echo performing two shows, UNDER CURRENT and LEGACY.

BEST, a dynamic and fast paced piece of dance theatre from Maiden Voyage celebrates George Best’s football genius and McGuinness School of Dance presents DANCE ABOVE THE RAINBOW, a mix of both traditional and modern Irish dancing. With a selection of the finest dancers and musicians, ESSENCE OF IRELAND, sweeps audiences along a breath-taking journey of music, song and dance.

Described by the Irish World as “Entirely unique” and “Highly Recommended”, the critically acclaimed Essence of Ireland is taking theatres by storm.
