Waterside Voices has printed its 21stbirthday edition

In ‘An Appreciation,’ Charlie McDaid pays tribute to the longevity of the magazine.

Ken McCormack follows up his many years with the Voices with two articles, ‘Bridge of Sighs’ and ‘The Springhill Ghost.’ In his ‘Memories of Moore Street,’ Raymond Robinson takes us back to the people and happy days growing up in Moore Street. Jim Hunter tells the life story of one of the greatest hymn writers ever known, Cecil Frances Alexander, in ‘A Greenhill Far Away.’

Another life story, this time world renowned tobacco baron, Thomas Gallaher, is brought to us by John Lynch in ‘Thomas Gallaher - The Eglinton man who built an Empire.’

In his ‘A Street View of the old Waterside,’ John McCormack traces how some of the Waterside’s famous streets got their name.

A special pictorial feature, ‘The Golden Days of Derry City Football,’ recaptures the golden days of the 1960s from photographs by the late Dan Watson, much loved trainer in those halcyon years.

These are just a few of the many and varied contents of the Winter 2014/15 issue. There are also articles from Isobel Arbuckle, Ernie Falconer, John F. McCartney, poetry pages from Emma Smyth, not forgetting the popular pictures from the past.
