We give ourselves up - we stole it - said Cookstown woman

A Cookstown woman who failed to complete her community service has been given a suspended jail sentence.

East Tyrone Magistrate’s Court heard how police on patrol on Burn Road in the early hours of January 19 watched as a Ford Focus car collided with a bin.

They approached the car where they found the driver to be agitated. However, the passenger, Amy Reid, 20, from Coolnafranky Park, was heard to say, “We give ourselves up - we stole it.”

However, at court on Wednesday she admitted failing to turn up for work on August 6, August 14, and September 16. She had completed 44.5 hours.

District Judge John Meehan handed down a two month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
