‘We have no control over flags’ say Castledawson Community Group

A row over flags could leave Castledawson without Christmas lights.

Sinn Fein controlled Magherafelt District Council is demanding a ‘flags policy’ to be put in place before allocating funding.

They want Union flags and Ulster flags put up on lamp posts along the Main Street taken down.

But a spokesperson for Castledawson Community Group told the Mail that they have no control over the flags.

“If they do not allow the lights in Castledawson this year all the community will suffer,” she said.
