At the group’s annual general meeting in Mayfield on Monday night, members reaffirmed their opposition to regional waste management body arc21’s controversial proposal for Hightown Quarry.

Claiming that the waste incinerator is “not needed and not economically viable”, NoArc21 called on more people to join their campaign and add their voices to the more than 3,400 objections already submitted to the Department of the Environment in opposition to arc21’s planning application.

“We cannot rest until we hear a definitive no from the Environment Minister. We all agree that the drawn out and uncertain nature of the entire process is unacceptable and unfair. We continue to push for a decision,” a NoArc21 spokesman said.
