Every year during Autism Awareness Month, Autism NI celebrates it’s ‘Wear It Blue’ campaign to encourage everyone to don their blue gear for the day and donate. Could your family, school, company or business hold a ‘Wear It Blue’ day and raise awareness about Autism in Northern Ireland?

April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day, a UN designated day where Autism organisations around the world celebrate with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events. In Northern Ireland Autism NI encourages you to embrace the colour ‘blue’ and stand-up for Autism.

Autism NI Corporate Fundraising Manager Sarah-Jayne Cassells said: “We are asking local Northern Ireland businesses to show their support this April and join the ‘Wear It Blue’ campaign. It is very simple, choose a day within the month of April and ask all staff to wear something blue. This can be socks, a tie, scarf, shirt or go all out and dress head-to-toe in blue and then donate to Autism NI’s vital services.

“This is a fun and very simple way to get involved and raise awareness of this hidden disability. All money that is raised will go towards Autism NI’s Family Support Service that supports over 4000 families each year in Northern Ireland.”

With over 30,000 people in Northern Ireland affected by Autism and every year over 1000 children being diagnosed, Autism has become the fastest growing disability in Europe. Therefore Autism NI needs your support so that it can continue to provide vital services to those families and individuals living with Autism.
