Wear your poppy with pride: McClarty

ULSTER Unionist MLA, David McClarty, had urged members of the public to wear their poppy with pride in the run up to Remembrance Sunday.

“At this time of year the Nation joins together in remembering the sacrifices made by those in Uniform in defence of freedom.

“The sacrifice and the suffering of our armed rorces is a reminder that freedom is not free, and that as a society we ask others to pay a price – often a very high one - on our behalf.

“Locally we also remember the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women of the Regular Army, the Ulster Defence Regiment, the RUC and PSNI who risked their lives to protect this community from anarchy and who are still engaged to this day in the fight against terrorism.

“Supporting the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal and wearing the Poppy with Pride is a small token of our thanks and gratitude and a public way of saying ‘We will remember them’.”
