The Met Office has issued a yellow early alert for Northern Ireland from Tuesday night, during Wednesday and at first on Thursday

They say that waves will be “unusually high”, bringing the risk of localised flooding of roads and causeways, particularly on the northern coasts of Northern Ireland.

Frequent wintry showers will also bring an additional hazard, mainly over higher ground. The public should be aware of the potential for disruption to travel and perhaps also power supplies.

The wind alert is valid until 6am on Thursday 11th.

Tuesday’s daytime temperature, at 10C, will be double the icy blast of Monday, when the first snow of winter fell in the borough. However, heavy rain is also forecast.
