Weather warning: Mid Ulster battered by heavy rain, with gales forecast

Motorists are being urged to take care on the roads across Mid Ulster after heavy rainfall in the early hours of Thursday morning.

A yellow weather warning is in place across the western part of Northern Ireland, with more heavy rain expected throughout the day and potential gale force winds.

According to the Met Office, the heaviest rain will be over counties Down and Antrim. The weather will be turning milder with strong southerly winds reaching gale force.

Meanwhile disruption to water supplies have been reported in the Drumard Road area of Draperstown.
